Talking Heads

I'm on my way out of the UK, but I wanted to say thanks to all the speakers and interviewees who came out to the Storefront for Art and Architecture on Friday: Mary Beard, Simon Bradley, Geoff Shearcroft, Tom McCarthy, Mark Smout & Laura Allen, Alex Haw, and Sean Griffiths, Charles Holland, and Sam Jacob of FAT.
I thought we covered a huge variety of topics, with some really great and unexpected things coming up in each interview – from the future architectural climates of a carbon dioxide-rich world to the Zone of Alienation around Chernobyl to the Spiderman-like masters of complex rigging, via baroque ornament, pedestrianization & democracy, the memory houses of Proust and Calvino, "retreating villages" on the English coast, temporary structures as defined under British law, and the value (or not) of blogging.
Of course, none of this would have happened without Joseph Grima, Director of the Storefront, who set up, filmed, and encouraged the event on incredibly short notice; and we were helped out at all points by Tom, whose surname I didn't manage to catch.
So thanks again to everyone for taking time to participate.
Meanwhile, I've got audio tapes of the interviews and Joseph's got videotapes, so, after checking technical quality and so on, we'll get those online shortly.
And if you came out for any part of the day, I'd love to hear your own thoughts, as well – either positive or negative.
Now I'm off to see Terminal 5...
