The Final Stretch
We've got a huge final night planned here at Postopolis! LA, after an incredibly interesting Day Four (which you can read about via our Twitter feed, @postopolis). Days One and Two, meanwhile, have been written up by our erstwhile scribe, Dan Hill, over at his blog City of Sound – including full-length posts about presentations by Fritz Haeg and Patrick Keller – and Jace Clayton and Régine Debatty have both written up a few thoughts about Day One, as well. So definitely check those out.

Before I get to tonight's schedule, though, let me point out that I know some of you had trouble getting into the hotel last night, and at least two of you were even turned away at the elevator by bouncers. First, I'm hugely sorry – and embarrassed – that this happened, but we had, in fact, worked everything out for people to access the roof and see the show. It seems, however, that there are some communication issues amongst the different teams involved – from we scattered Postopolitans to the hotel events crew to the building manager to the security guards – and something was lost along the way.
So, again, I'm sorry for any inconvenience.
My advice tonight is thus to please arrive before 7pm, as this will avoid all issues of access and so on. Even better, I believe there will be free vodka drinks from 5pm-7pm, so that's all the more reason to stop by. But please do consider arriving before 7pm so that there is no issue with a cover charge or anything of the sort. Thanks for understanding – and apologies for anyone adversely affected last night.

What's in store tonight, then?

Again, bear in mind that it has been getting very cold up there, so consider bringing a warm jacket; you will not regret it.
Also, if you're a reader of BLDGBLOG and we haven't met yet, I'd love to say hello; it's always nice to put a face behind a commenter's name or even just simply to meet new people. I know I'm running around a lot during the event – or simply sitting there, contributing to our Twitter feed – but it'd be great to say hey, either way.
Hope to see you tonight.

hi geoff, thanks for helping set this all up, i've been tuning in the live feed every night.. but the the last couple nights, and yesterday in particular the audio was not streaming most of the night, other viewers on ustream were having the same issues. other streams on ustream were working fine, so we figured it was on the your end. hope to hear it all tonight.
thanks again
Rick, sorry about that - I'm beginning to think that "postopolis" is Latin for technical hitches, as we've had a burning camera, a broken camera, missing internet feeds, and so on. And it's not over yet!
But I'll see what we can do. With any luck the audio was, at least, recorded on our end, so we can perhaps still use these videos in the future.
Thanks for watching, either way!
Geoff, I guess you must think there's some value to the twitter feed, but I'd ask you to reconsider. It seems to be doing nothing but clogging up what used to be an interesting and always informative sidebar.
Too much information becomes the same as too little at some point because it crowds out the what really is interesting or useful. I can't say knowing who just farted a thousand miles away does a reader much good.
I rarely agree regarding architecture, but sometimes less is more.
Mies, it's up there for the duration of the event and possibly a day or two more; as far as reading about "who just farted," I'll assume that you didn't bother to read the feed because it was easier for you simply to rely on totally unquestioned ideas about what people do with their Twitter accounts. With all due respect, I think the Twitter feed from Postopolis! LA makes for a pretty interesting read; you might be pleasantly surprised if you actually sat down and read it.
Geeze, biting the hand that feeds. The twitter log was a great way to follow the action. I had a similar experience with the audio. This event seemed great--I hope to make a future one, for the convenience of seeing many of my favorite writers all at once. I'd even gladly pay the $20 dollar cover charge.
