There are some beautiful alluvial map drawings of the Mississippi river on the Army Corps of Engineers website. One can download the entire collection for free. There is a link to them through Pruned.

Anon - I love ferrofluid. Love the photos, at least. Would like a whole ocean of the stuff, and a large hovering magnet-city...
