Yellow Knife, a city in norther Canada has a intereting collection of boat houses. Because of the extreme climate people can drive to them in winter and have to take a boat put to them in summer.

The film "Searching for the Wrong-Eyed Jesus" has a similar house with more of a Huck-Finn bayou take.
