Kind of Blue

It's nice to see a friend (and coworker) get an opportunity to discuss his work: Dwell's Design Director, Kyle Blue, talks to Arkitip about why we make Dwell the way we do, in this short video shot just the other day in the office. Congrats, Kyle!
Also visible in the background of the video are Brendan Callahan, illustrator of The BLDGBLOG Book, Michele Posner, Ryan Nelson, and Dakota Keck – as well as some spreads from our forthcoming May 2009 issue, my second third-to-last as Senior Editor.

Cinelli shirt? Of course, San Francisco. I just can't escape this architecturally rendered dread of static bourgeoisie interest. Does a published vicissitude negate that or simply encode it in subcultural capital?

Subcultural capital, now there's a new one.

It seems to me like this guy's doing one of the things he loves to do, and he's able to grow a handsome beard while doing it. I think that's great.

Dwell magazine has inspired several people I know to get out there and build. Not acquire. Build.

jd, i did like 'subcultural capital' but must say 'does a published vicissitude negate' takes the proverbial (or not so) cake for an opening. regardless, i thought i would mention that this year marks the 50th anniversary of the album 'kind of blue', a point of interest relevant only to the title of the post concerning yet another kind of blue.
